This is my new favorite BBQ dive! This dive is situated in an alley in downtown, historical Fairhope. All you see from the road is a sign that points into the alley for Texas BBQ. When you look down an alley, you see a dive, saloon and a camper with the sign, "Y'all come back now." When you enter the restaurant, you see a huge bar and how much of a dive this joint is.
Just like most Texas BBQ joints, you order your meat a la carte by 1/4 pound. There is a combo meat platter but it does not come with sides. I wanted some sides so I chose 3 meats and 2 sides. My choices were a rib, which came out as 3, brisket, and pork with tater salad and texicorn.
All 3 meats were phenomenal! Out of the 3, I say the brisket was the best. It was juicy, moist, tender, and some good fat on it. I wish I could have brisket like this all the time! The pork was tender, chopped, and also had a good, smoky seasoning. The ribs were not fall off the bone but easy to chew with an excellent rub.
The tater salad was a baked potato-sour cream base that I just cannot get enough of. The texicorn was some of the best sweet corn I have ever had! It was smothered in cotija cheese? with spices and a lime to squeeze on it.
There are 5 sauces and each were amazing! I loved the Texas Red and Texas Gold the most. The Texas Red is your traditional, pepper, tomato-based BBQ sauce. The Texas Gold is a tangy mustard. There is also an Alabama white with a taste of horseradish and sweetness. The unique sauces of the bunch are the Sweet Bacon and Jalepeno Cream. The Jalepeno Cream is not a BBQ sauce and it is not creamy. I didn't like it all that much.
Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet!
I would go out of my way to eat at Texarbama again. It is Texas BBQ with a hint of Bama. What a magnificent combination! -

We decided to try TexarBama BBQ as we heard live music coming from their direction while we were walking in downtown Fairhope. I am REALLY glad that we did.
The restaurant is located in the old Gumbo Shack location (glad that place finally closed) and is a short walk from the shops and other restaurants on the West side of town. It's decorated like a typical BBQ joint with plenty of seating inside and picnic tables and bar type seating outside. They have an outside area that can accommodate live music.
On to the food, I ordered ribs and queso dip for the kiddos. The ribs may be.....no, they were the best ribs that I have had in a long, long time. Pulled off the bone perfectly and had a spot on flavor profile. Amazing! I ordered the queso dip deconstructed as my girls like the cheese and Texar's come with Black Angus Brisket, guacamole, sour cream and Salsa. The brisket was amazing. Again, a perfect flavor profile and tender as you could ever hope for in a BBQ brisket.
If you find yourself in Fairhope and want to try delicious BBQ, look no further than TexarBBQ, you will not be disappointed.

The ribs are really good. Above average dining experience. Not the best barbeque I've ever eaten but worth checking out.
It's a good barbeque..... would go back some. -

Love the atmosphere! Food was really good!! The server was pleasant. However, I felt like their portions were pretty small overall. I feel like for the money you definitely get larger portions elsewhere. Potato salad was one ice cream scoop size. Mac and cheese was good. I liked their brisket a lot. Texas red was my favorite sauce. My wife loved their fried pickles. Overall, I would go back but not if I was very hungry.
